Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I expect from a session with Clare?

    • First of all, you will be treated with complete respect, we will have a free 20 minute consultation, on the phone, to decide if we can work together. We will hold our discussions face-to-face, in my relaxing therapy room, online or the telephone. Our discussions will be in confidence.

  • Where are you based?

    • I’m based in beautiful Melbourne,  just south of Derby in the East Midlands. My therapy room is a private and comfortable space where we can talk freely. There are toilet facilities available.

  • How long will a session with you last?

    • A counselling session is 50 minutes.

    • Couples sessions are for 60 minutes. 

    • Longer sessions are available at request. 

  • What qualifications do you have?​​

    • Certificate in Counselling Skills in the Development of Learning (Children) awarded by OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA).

    • Level 2 in counselling skills. CPCAB 

    • Level 3 in counselling studies. CPCAB.

    • CPDS's include, attachments, neurodivergence, ADHD, trauma, rewind technique, couples and relational problems and grief and loss. 

  • I’m a fully qualified counsellor after completing a CPCAB (counselling and psychotherapy central awarding body) course Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic counselling. (a BACP - British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists approved course).

  • Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) 

  • How much do you charge?

    • A single 50 minute session will cost £50.

    • Couples sessions are £90.

  • How can I contact you?

  • Is there Parking or local public transport?

    • Yes, there is ample parking in nearby streets, free of charge.

    • Melbourne is also served by good public transport.

  • What are your opening times?

    • I have a selection of appointments available throughout the week as well as some evening and weekend appointments.

  • Are you able to work with children and/or vulnerable adults?

    • Yes, I hold a full DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) to work with children and adults.​

  • Are you a member of an association?

    • Yes, I am currently a Registered member of the BACP.​​​​

  • I have a disability, can I still work with you?

    • Yes, however there is a flight of stair to access the therapy room.​​

    • An alternative location in Derby centre can be arranged if necessary.

    • I also work by phone or video call.  

  • Do you have insurance?

    • Yes, I have public liability and indemnity insurance.

  • What other experience do you have?

    • I have worked therapeutically with children with and without autism in residential care and school settings.

    • I've worked as a community carer, providing emotional and physical support for young adults with disabilities and elderly including clients presenting non verbally, autistic traits, physical disabilities and complex needs.

    • Ward based in a hospital, working with patients presenting with end of life, palliative care, drug and alcohol withdrawal, autism, altered behaviour, dementia and with their loved ones. 

    • Worked extensively with complex and delayed grief. 

    • Attachments/ADHD/Autism.

  • What can you help me with?

    • I work with lots of presenting issues although I have a keen interest in attachments, anxiety, trauma, grief, end of life, and autism. 

  • If I call you, will you answer?

    • If you call me and I don't answer, please leave me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. (I may be with a client).
